"Love one another...", "Do not worry about tomorrow...", "Ask and you will receive..."
These are some of our favorite teachings of Jesus. They're comforting, right? Encouraging, yes?
But what about these statements?
"If anyone comes to me and does not hate father and mother, wife and children, brothers and sisters-yes, even their own life-such a person cannot be my disciple."
"But I tell you that anyone who looks at a woman lustfully has already committed adultery with her in his heart."
Did Jesus really mean what he said? Were they hyperbole? Let's face it...some of Jesus's teachings are, well, hard to swallow!
Join us this Sunday for the kick-off of our January sermon series, Hard to Swallow, as we look more in depth at some of the tough sayings of Jesus.
(Psst...this is a great series to invite someone to join you!)
