Serving Schools: Meadowfield

Serving Schools: Meadowfield

by Shandon Baptist Church on April 12, 2016

Shandon has partnered with Meadowfield Elementary School since 2008.  Since the partnership's inception, Shandon volunteers have invested an over 2,000  man hours of service through school improvement/beautification efforts, the Good News Club (after school club), and hosting events--including a Mother's Day Store  and a carnival.

Our partnership with Meadowfield gives us the opportunity to go outside the walls of Shandon Baptist Church to build relationships within our community and become a trusted partner.

Pamela Gillam, Chairperson of the School Improvement Council,  is a huge fan of the annual Mother's Day store:

"When I think about the Mother’s Day Store at Meadowfield that Shandon Baptist Church organizes, it makes me giddy and brings tears to my eyes!  Shandon brings to life an opportunity that most of our children do not have—the opportunity to give gifts to their loved ones on Mother’s Day! "

This spring, our church has the opportunity to be involved with two events at Meadowfield and bless students and their families in a big way.

Learn more about getting involved below!

Meadowfield Carnival

Friday, April 22 from  5-8pm
Meadowfield Elementary School
525 Galway Ln, Columbia, SC 29209

Shandon provides volunteers to man games and food booths.  This enables the parents to be with their children at the carnival and not have to work booths.

  • Serve for a 1-hour shift.
  •  Wear a Shandon shirt if you have one.
  • If your family would like to join the fun, bring money for games & food.

Project Mother's Day

May 2-4, Shandon volunteers will set up and staff a Mother's Day Store at Meadowfield Elementary School, where over 600 students will have the opportunity to select a free gift for their moms. Help out by donating gifts or serving in the store.
