Open Eyes Coffee Company

by Stephen Lincoln on December 17, 2019

In 2015, I had the opportunity to join Frank Shimkus and a group of Seniors from Shandon’s youth ministry on a mission trip to India. I had never participated in a foreign mission trip, and hadn’t been on a mission trip of any kind in over 20 years. Even so, I committed to honor a promise to Frank and accompany my senior boys on a farewell trip before they left for college. Little did I know that this trip to India would forever change my life. It opened my eyes to God’s love for the world and the beauty of the global church.

Since then I’ve had the opportunity to participate in and lead several other mission trips around the globe. Aside from growing in my own faith and understanding of God, I’ve seen the eyes of many team members opened in the same way.

It’s been one of the greatest blessings of my adult life to see the people I love, from the church I love, grow in their love and understanding of our Lord and His world through missions.

There’s just something about stepping out in faith in a culture that is not your own and trusting God to be Himself that can never be experienced by staying home.

Open Eyes Coffee Company was born out of a desire to see the name of Jesus carried to the nations by members of my church family here at Shandon. 100 percent of profits will be dedicated to meeting the physical needs of the people we serve abroad, as well as providing scholarships that I pray will help open the eyes of other church members who might not otherwise be able to go.

Please take home a bag of Open Eyes Cape Buff Coffee from Kenya for your own enjoyment, or as stocking stuffers for those you love this Christmas. You’ll love the complex flavors, but you’ll be doing much more than enjoying a great cup of coffee. Every purchase will help open more eyes at Shandon to the grace, love and glory of our Heavenly Father as we strive to Live Sent around the world.
