The just and gracious God of the universe looked upon hopelessly sinful people and sent His Son, Jesus Christ, God in the flesh, to bear His wrath against sin on the cross and to show His power over sin in the resurrection so that all who turn and trust in Him will be reconciled to God forever. The good news of Jesus Christ demands a response from all who hear it.
Baptism is a public testimony of what Christ has done in your life as a Christ-follower. It is a symbolic picture of death, burial, and resurrection, and new life as well as your commitment to Christ and to His church. When you are baptized, you are obeying Christ’s command in the Bible for all believers, and you are telling the world that Jesus Christ is the Lord of your life. No matter what your age or background, baptism is a natural and important step in your journey as a Christ-follower.
We believe that biblical baptism is symbolic–it doesn’t “save” you–but also that it’s very important in the life of every believer. We require that those desiring membership at Shandon Baptist be baptized—either previously at the time of your commitment to Christ or when you desire membership.
Join Our Church
Membership at Shandon is achieved by attending Discover Shandon. During the class, you will learn about what it means to be a member of Shandon Baptist and you will be introduced to our church’s beliefs, vision, and values.
The next Discover Shandon classes will be March 12, April 16, and May 14.
The Christian faith is an active faith. We believe that all believers are given different gifts, but we are ALL called to use our gifts to serve those in the church. There are many different places to serve here at Shandon, and you can view those by clicking the button below.
